News: Pandemonium at Ekiti election tribunal as Pro-Ayo Fayose thugs allegedly beat up Chief Judge

Pandemonium broke out this morning at the Ekiti state High court after Chief Judge of the State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola and two other judges, were allegedly beaten up by thugs believed to be loyal to Governor-elect, Ayo Fayose, for allegedly being rude to him.
NigerianEyegathered that the hoodlums allegedly rough handled the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola and two other judges, including Justice Adeyeye and Justice Akintayo.

Although, there was no court sitting at the High Court in respect of the ‘eligibility’ case instituted by e-11, the hoodlums, who gained access to the premises of the court by a means which was not immediately known made straight for the office of the CJ where they reportedly harassed him and the clerks attached to his office.
The hoodlums were said to have brandished heavy headed sticks with which they menaced other individuals around.

Soon, instructions that workers should close for the day went round other offices and departments, forcing an early closure of the entire courts, including the magistrate and high courts, leaving only the Election Petitions Tribunal where proper hearing in respect of the petition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was going on.

While it was not known how the hoodlums entered the court, despite the heavy presence of security personnel, it was gathered reliably that the vehicle which brought the Chairman of the Election Tribunal to the court, Justice Muhammad Siraj was badly damaged.

The hoodlums numbering nearly a hundred and fifty had gathered at the main road facing the premises of the court as early as 7 am, singing songs in Yoruba both to condemn the opposition and extol the virtues of the governor-elect, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, currently facing trial for alleged ‘inelligibility’ charges regarding the 21 June governorship election.
Several detachments of men of the Nigeria Police Force in pick up vans had also taken strategic positions around the area while an armoured personnel carrier stood sturdy directly facing the entrance of the Tribunal Court.
