TRAGEDY: ‘Drunk’ driver kills threefamily members in Ibadan

Three members of a family were on Thursday night crushed
to death by a Honda Pilot jeep driven by a young woman on
Adeoyo State Hospital Road in Ibadan.
An eyewitness, who simply identified himself as Vincent,
told our correspondent that the driver, who had a passenger
beside her in the car, was drunk, adding that a three-year-
old kid was among the victims.
Vincent said, “The lady was apparently drunk. She was
racing alongside other friends on the road when she lost
control of the car, killing the three before ramming the car
to an electric pole. The accident happened at about 8.30
pm.”
Vincent added that friends of the driver quickly evacuated
bottles of whisky and other drinks from the car before the
police arrived at the scene.
“I think they were coming from a party or a club. The driver
should be a daughter of a rich family because she was well
dressed and her friend drove powerful cars. She was also
taken to a hospital by her friends,” he said.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said
there was an accident around the area on New Year Day,
but did not give detail.
