A mild drama played out on Wednesday evening, when a commercial motorcycle rider, Igwe, stripped himself naked to protest alleged police extortion.
It was gathered that some police officers attached to the Onipanu Police Station had arrested Igwe for an undisclosed offence.
A source, who witnessed the incident, said Igwe went wild and removed his clothes as the police officers attempted to drag him and his bike into their station over his refusal to part with an alleged N10,000 bribe.
"He was hysterical and removed his clothes. He even grabbed a bottle and broke it saying that he will stab the policemen and then kill himself. He was shouting that the police wanted to detain him for nothing," said the source.
"His wild behaviour made a crowd to gather and they started pleading with the police men to freehim, so that was how the policemen allowed him to go with his bike after they warned him."
Igwe's brave but wildbehaviour earned himapplause from fellow commercial motorcyclists, as they kept hailing "Igwe, Igwe, Igwe", following his altercation with the officers.
